Governor’s Schools for Middle School Students:
Governor's School of Literacy through the Arts, Culture, and History (GSLACH) – current 8th grade students (application deadline for counties is March 28, 2025)
Governor's STEM Institute (GSI) (WVU) – current 7th grade students (application deadline for counties is April 11, 2025)
Governor's STEM Institute (GSI) (Green Bank) – current 8th grade students (application deadline for counties is April 11, 2025)

Governor's Computer Science Institute (GCSI) – current 9th and 10th grade students (application deadline for students is April 11, 2025)

A total of 27 students showcased their spelling skills on Wednesday, January 29th, at the Central Office Board Meeting Room. After 8 rounds, we are proud to announce our winners:

The Gilmer County Board of Education adopted a resolution at their December 16th regular meeting urging the State of West Virginia to stabilize PEIA. Members recognize that the financial instability of PEIA has led to increasing costs for public employees and has placed an undue burden on the ones who are critical to our educational system. The resolution is meant to urge WV State Legislature and the Governor to take immediate action, ensuring that the program remains sustainable, affordable, and equitable for all public employees. Special thanks to board members for their support!
High school students, semester exams are scheduled for the end of the 2nd nine week period, which takes place just after Winter Break. Please see the attached flyer for a schedule of which period exams will be held on each day.
