JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians) is an exciting program dedicated to preserving the rich cultural heritage of central West Virginia through music and dance. By learning string instruments and the art of playing by ear, students immerse themselves in the traditional tunes of Appalachia, honing their skills while connecting with a vibrant legacy. The program also offers opportunities to learn from Master Class Artists, fostering growth and appreciation for the region's musical traditions.
GCES recently hosted a JAM presentation for 4th and 5th-grade students, introducing them to this enriching experience and celebrating the beauty of Appalachian music and dance. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the talented musicians who graciously shared their time and expertise, inspiring our students with their passion and skill.

Gilmer County High School Parents and Students,
We want to inform you that due to necessary work in the student parking lot, parking spots 1-19 will temporarily be unavailable on Tuesday, November 12th, and Wednesday, November 13th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
To accommodate students, we will work to adjust parking on campus, and additional parking will also be available across from the public library. If students need to park at the library, staff will be present to supervise and assist students as they park and walk safely to the school.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we make these temporary adjustments.

Seniors had a blast at the annual "Senior Brunch" yesterday! They enjoyed a delicious breakfast with donuts, waffles, casseroles, coffee, and more, all while getting their senior portraits taken. Plus, they added their handprints to the "Goal to Graduate" banner, which will inspire our younger students all year long!

🎉🌟 Celebrating Our Perfect Attendance Wildcats! 🌟🎉
We are incredibly proud to recognize 68 students at Gilmer County Elementary who achieved perfect attendance for the first 9 weeks of school! Not missing a single day in that time is truly an impressive accomplishment.
Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in a student’s success. Each school day builds on the last, and being here every day helps students keep up with lessons, stay engaged with their classmates, and feel confident in their learning. When students attend consistently, they’re less likely to fall behind and can tackle new skills with confidence!
Congratulations to our Wildcats with perfect attendance, and thank you to all the families who support them. Let’s keep aiming for excellent attendance every day, GCES! 🐾💪
