A search and threat assessment was completed by law enforcement. The threat was not substantiated; therefore, the determination was made that Gilmer County High School students were safe to return to class.
The Resource Rundown is a free virtual session provided for parents or caregivers offering information related to accessible services for children. This initiative was created in hopes to alleviate the misconceptions that seeking services lead to CPS or law enforcement involvement. You can find more information on the Kids Thrive website and register for the Resource Rundown every Tuesday at noon at https://kidsthrive.wv.gov/rundown/Pages/default.aspx.

Gilmer County High School Students,
GCHS Middle school students received a "Back to School Letter" in the mail last week. Our intention was to send you a letter as well with your schedule. Due to the WV Department of Education's newly adopted student information system, counties are having stress verifying student schedules, updating LiveGrades accounts, and several other applications.
At GCHS, we took steps to schedule high school students in June so that data would be ready when migrating to the new system. This early work put Gilmer County ahead of some, but the migration of data has required extra verification and cleanup. As a result, your schedule will not be mailed this week. Instead, you will receive your schedule on the first day of school on August 18.
Additionally, there is an expected delay in the use of LiveGrades. This effects how teachers record grades as well as communication among teachers, parents, and students.
Change for the better often has some growing pains and we are looking forward to the many improvements for this school year. We anticipate your arrival August 18 and encourage you to notice all the positive changes made over the summer.
Most Sincerely,
John Putnam, Principal
Summer School Begins Tomorrow! Bus information and the summer menu can be found on our app and webpage!
