
Birth Start will be taking place at Gilmer County Elementary School during the 2024-2025 school year. Please see the attached flyer for more information. We hope to see you and your little one at these monthly school readiness events.


ATTENTION: Parents/Guardians of Summer School Students....As a reminder the buses will be running ONE HOUR LATER on Friday, July 12th for our Kindergarten through 12th graders. Therefore if your child has been catching the bus at 7:20am, they will catch the bus at 8:20am. This will allow our students to swim at the Lewis County Park on Friday, July 12th. Buses will transport students home one hour later on Friday, July 12th, with dismissal from the schools at 3pm. Thank you.

Parents/Guardians of students that are riding Summer Bus #81, Students will be delayed this afternoon coming home. Please be aware that the bus will be running a few minutes late on Mineral Road, Kanawha Drive, Tanner, Troy and Rt 33. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

ParentGuidance.org, in collaboration with West Virginia Department of Education, is providing free support for parents this summer. Please see the informational flyer attached.


Gilmer Grab-n-Go will be at the WV Folk Festival on Saturday, June 22nd. We will be set up near the Kids' Activities from noon until 3pm. Come see us and "cool off" before enjoying more fun at all of the events. Be sure to take a book too.

Summer programs are beginning in Gilmer County next week, Monday, June 17th. Please find attached the summer menu and bus schedules. Gilmer Grab-n-Go will be at the GC Family Support Center this Saturday, May 25th, 10am--1pm. Come and join us for some family fun as we learn about gardening. Books will be available for children to take home too. The Family Support Center is located at 206 East Main Street in Glenville, next door to the Gilmer FRN. We hope to see you there.



Gilmer County Young Writer Winners were invited to Young Writers Day in Charleston on Friday, May 3rd. Students celebrated their achievements at the University of Charleston with guest speakers, author workshops, a picnic-style lunch and an awards ceremony. Brooklyn Ratliff, a 9th grader at GCHS, was recognized as a state winner, 3rd place in the 9th-10th grade division for her story, "Tainted Reflection." Her story along with all of the state winners will be published in an anthology for the 2024 school year. Congratulations to all of our Gilmer County Winners: Clara Forren, Jacob Brody Campbell, Colton Swiger, Casey Isenhart, Brooklyn Ratliff and Kara Anderson. We are very proud of you!
