📚 Academic Planners Are Here! 📚 Great news, GCES families! Our Academic Planners have arrived, and they’re ready to help keep the connection strong between home and school. These planners are an excellent tool for staying informed about your child’s schoolwork and any messages from their teacher. Plus, don’t forget to check your child's backpack for their grey and black folders. These folders are where you'll find all the important papers—whether they need to be returned or kept at home. 🚌 Bus Safety with Our Preschoolers! 🚌 On Tuesday, our youngest Wildcats at GCES learned all about bus safety! A big thank you to our wonderful bus drivers, Jean McCune and Steven Louk, for teaching our preschool students the importance of staying safe on the bus. From how to properly get on and off the bus to the importance of staying seated during the ride, our little ones are now bus safety pros! 🐾 #GoGilmer

🎶 Exciting news from our GCES Wildcat Elementary Band Program! We had a great turnout at our Bandland instrument tryouts, where many students had the opportunity to explore and find the instruments that suit them best. Please take a moment to review the routes to ensure you have the most up-to-date information on pick-up and drop-off times for your children. We appreciate your support as we prepare for a successful school year!

Gilmer County Family Support Center is sponsoring a SafeSplash Day at Cedar Creek State Park on Saturday, July 27th. This event includes activities for the family, from noon to 4pm at the Apple Shelter. We hope to see you there!

Birth Start will be taking place at Gilmer County Elementary School during the 2024-2025 school year. Please see the attached flyer for more information. We hope to see you and your little one at these monthly school readiness events.

ATTENTION: Parents/Guardians of Summer School Students....As a reminder the buses will be running ONE HOUR LATER on Friday, July 12th for our Kindergarten through 12th graders. Therefore if your child has been catching the bus at 7:20am, they will catch the bus at 8:20am. This will allow our students to swim at the Lewis County Park on Friday, July 12th. Buses will transport students home one hour later on Friday, July 12th, with dismissal from the schools at 3pm. Thank you.

We would like to give a special thank you to Calhoun-Gilmer Construction. Instructor Paul Parsons and his students have done a tremendous job in helping transform our Board room. The latest addition are the frames holding our schools and county logo. Also thanks to Steve Rollins and Arch Moore for hanging them today.

Summer Bus DELAYED: Parents/Guardians of students that are riding Summer Bus #81, Students will be delayed this afternoon coming home. Please be aware that the bus will be running a few minutes late on Mineral Road, Kanawha Drive, Tanner, Troy and Rt 33. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

ParentGuidance.org, in collaboration with West Virginia Department of Education, is providing free support for parents this summer. Please see the informational flyer attached.

Gilmer Grab-n-Go will be at the WV Folk Festival on Saturday, June 22nd. We will be set up near the Kids' Activities from noon until 3pm. Come see us and "cool off" before enjoying more fun at all of the events. Be sure to take a book too.
