The 5th grade math students are actively engaged in Building a Thinking Classroom.
BTC is a part of the WVDE math initiative called Unite with Numeracy. Its purpose is to unite educators, families, and students while enhancing teacher content knowledge, implement research-based instructional practices, increase student achievement and engagement, and provide students with the essential tools they need to be successful mathematicians. Go Gilmer!

Families are invited to join Title I and support staff in the GCES Cafeteria this evening to learn how to "play" some games with their children. These games are strategies for parents to use at home to help support their children's learning in both reading and math. Come and join us, 4pm-7pm, during the Parent Teacher Conference.

Mrs. Beall and Mrs. Stalnaker's 1st grade class enjoyed the beautiful fall weather and took their learning outside, where they practiced writing spelling words with sidewalk chalk.

Students at GCES have been working hard on completing lessons on i-Ready. Mrs. Hartshorn has given each of her math classes quite a challenge. Each time a student receives a 100%, they color in a square on the "i-Ready for Donuts" chart. When the chart is full, students will receive a donut party. Mrs. Hartshorn's homeroom was the first math class to get their reward. Mrs. Fox and Mrs. Moss's homerooms aren't far behind. Way to work hard, kiddos! 🍩 Go Gilmer

🏀 A huge SHOUT OUT goes to the Lady Pioneer Women's Basketball Team and coaches for stopping by to read to some of our PE classes. So much fun!! Go Gilmer!

⭐GCES would like to highlight Mrs. Judy Leggett. Her dedication, passion, and amount of extra hours spent with her music students does not go unnoticed. She is an inspiration to her colleagues, students, and our entire school community. ⭐
