Professor Luke Bendick, a distinguished educator from Glenville State University, made a special visit to enlighten both Mr. Buckley's 12th-grade Civics class and Mrs. Facemire's 6th-grade social studies class in honor of Constitution Day. The students were privileged to participate in an engaging discussion that delved into the essence of American leadership, exploring topics ranging from the intricacies of the presidency to the structure, purpose, and rationale behind the electoral college.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Professor Bendick for sharing his expertise and inspiring our students on this significant occasion.

Dr. Tony Minney, the Superintendent of GCS, paid a special visit to Ms. Brittany Koutsunis' 8th Grade General Music class last Friday. He delivered an engaging lesson on the rich history of folk music in Appalachia. The students enjoyed the tales of West Virginia's musical heritage and were treated to a hands-on demonstration of one of folk music's most iconic instruments: the fiddle.
During his visit, Dr. Minney not only shared his knowledge but also showcased his musical talents by playing several fiddle tunes and singing a selection of traditional folk songs that beautifully evoked the spirit of Appalachia. This immersive experience allowed our students to connect with our cherished local traditions.
Following these engaging demonstrations, the students were given the opportunity to try their hand at playing the fiddle, creating their own musical expressions and further deepening their appreciation for the art of folk music.
