Friendly Reminder about End-of-Day Procedures at GCES
We want to kindly remind everyone that our instructional day runs until 3:24 p.m. The time from 2:50–3:24 is valuable for:
• Academic reteaching and review
• Behavior reflections, reteach, and rewards
• ClassDojo Store rewards
Every minute counts—and when students are signed out early, they miss out on important learning and celebrations!

Parent Pick-Up begins at approximately 3:30 and runs until 3:45.
We encourage families to please use the parent pick-up line instead of early sign-outs to minimize disruptions and ensure that our students don’t miss those last, meaningful minutes of their day.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep learning strong right up until dismissal. Together, we can make every moment count for our Wildcats!

☀️🍫🔥 Science in Action! 🔥🍫☀️ Our 4th grade Science/Social Studies/Writing teacher, Mrs. Chenoweth, led her students in a sweet experiment this week! Students were introduced to energy with a hands-on activity that used the sun’s power to cook s’mores in their very own solar ovens. 🌞🍪 Through the process, they discovered how the sun’s energy can be trapped, much like in a greenhouse and put to work. The best part? The experiment ended with delicious treats that earned glowing reviews from the students! 😋 #GoGilmer

🚗✨ GCES Wildcats – New Parent Pick-Up Procedures! ✨🚗 To help make dismissal safer and more efficient this year, we’re introducing a new parent pick-up process starting for the 2025–26 school year. Here’s what you can expect: 📛 Students will receive book bag name tags 🚗 Parents will be given car placards at Open House and during the first few weeks of school 👋 Just show and go in the pick-up loop – staff will radio for your child ❗ Forgot your placard? No problem – just park and sign your child out in the office. We know change can take time, and we appreciate your support and patience as we roll this out. Our goal is to keep your children safe and make pick-up smooth for everyone. 🐾 🕒 Reminder: Parent Pick-Up ends at 3:45 daily!

Summer School will be delayed ONE HOUR on Friday, July 18th. This will allow more time for students to engage in the planned filed trip activity. For example, if your child typically gets on the bus at 7:30am, they will get on the bus at 8:30am; if they get off the bus at 2:30pm, they will get off the bus at 3:30pm. If you have any questions, please call your child's school office. Thank you!
