Math Field Day was held on November 29, 2023. County winners were recognized and presented certificates at the Gilmer County Board of Education meeting held Monday, December 11, 2023. #GoGilmer

🌟CONGRATULATIONS🌟 to Mrs. Frashure's 5th Grade Math Class for receiving the Superintendent's GOAT Award. Mrs. Frashure has been implementing the teaching method, "Building a Thinking Classroom." This model creates a thinking-centered math classroom that involves encouraging exploration, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Students are constantly engaging in group discussions and incorporating open-ended questions to solve problems and deepen their mathematical skills.
Recently, these students have applied their knowledge of multiplying and dividing decimals to solve a real-world task about finding the cheapest way to buy pizza for a large group. They continue to work hard everyday to build a thinking classroom. #GoGilmer
The Gilmer Grab 'n Go will be parked near the Glenville City Park Square on Saturday, December 9th. We will be there 4pm-6pm, just before the Glenville Christmas Parade. GCHS and GCES students were treated to an awesome performance by the GSU Brass and Percussion Ensembles Thursday afternoon. It was a musical journey filled with joy and inspiration, creating a vibrant atmosphere that resonated with all who attended. We are thankful for our partner in education, Glenville State University, for the invitation to enjoy this performance and to Dr. Jason Barr for the photographs!

On November 3, GCES hosted Career Day, organized by Mrs. Goodnight. Students were able to explore various professions, learn about different jobs, and gain understanding of what people do in those roles. Please don’t forget to take advantage of the afterschool tutoring that is offered to any Gilmer County High School student that needs help with classwork or homework. Tutoring begins at 3:30pm and ends at 5:30pm. A snack will be provided. There will be two activity buses providing transportation home via the main routes, Rt. 33 and Rt. 5. ⭐Congratulations to Mrs. Chenoweth's 4th grade Writing/Social Studies/Science class for receiving the superintendent's GOAT Award. This 4th grade class has been collaborating with WVU Extension to offer the "Know Your State Project" to students. "Know Your State" is a WVU Extension 4-H Project that teaches on many of the WV Studies State Education Standards. Last year, 33 Blue Ribbon Projects were exhibited at the WV State Fair from this collaboration. ⭐ The GOAT Award celebrates the outstanding achievements, work ethic, responsibility, and exceptional citizenship displayed by students and staff in Gilmer County Schools. The Literacy Fair took place on October 6, 2023. Gilmer County Literacy Fair Winners were recognized for their accomplishment at the Regular meeting of the Gilmer County Board of Education on Monday night, October 23, 2023. The winners were presented with a certificate of recognition by Dr. Minney and congratulated by all board members. Way to go students!
