The commencement ceremony for Gilmer County High School’s graduating class of 2026 took place on Sunday, May 24, at Glenville State University’s Waco Center. Friends, family, faculty, and staff celebrated as students received their diplomas, marking the beginning of the next chapter in each of their lives.
This year, Gilmer County High School had two co-valedictorians. First, we have Anna Mason, who is the daughter of Shelly Mason and Nathaniel Mason of Auburn. Anna plans on attending the University of Miami where she intends to study Biology and eventually wants to become a dermatologist.

Our second co-valedictorian is Kinley Minigh. Kinley is the daughter of Adam and Christina Minigh. After graduation, she plans on furthering her education at Glenville State University, pursuing a degree in education.

This year’s Salutatorian is Jenna Smith, daughter of Daniel and Kristin Smith. Jenna plans to attend West Virginia Wesleyan College to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and a double minor in honors and dance. In the future, she plans to become a published author and do other writing work as well as teaching dance.
